Working with local authorities and historical trusts M J Faint have been involved in many restoration projects that have required sensitive and sympathetic roofing skills in order to fulfill the demands of a property that was built using ‘tradition’ and in some cases antiquated techniques.

Replacement roof timbers can be provided, following traditional methods and therefore retaining original features as closely as possible.  Restoration of chimney stacks from raking out and repointing to complete rebuilds can be undertaken.

Timber Work and Roof structure

During the course of some roofing projects it is necessary to replace defective timbers and preserve those remaining. From the traditional to the contemporary we can provide anything from a simple rafter replacement to complete roof structure. Whether it be a traditional cut roof or modern pre-fabricated truss type our knowledge of these roof features will smooth the way forward to a completed roofing project.

Cedar shingle roofs

These roofs are becoming more popular and some fine examples exist in our region. Pre-treated Cedar shingle roofs are light weight, durable and lend themselves to intricate roof design.
