Flat Roof Bath

M J Faint Roofing has been installing flat roof systems in the South West of England for many years. There have been many changes and innovations during these years one of the latest being the introduction of single-layer EPDM systems.

EPDM Rubber membrane (ethylene propylene diene monomer)

Originally designed for the industrial / commercial markets EPDM is becoming increasingly popular in the UK due to a number of ‘stand-out’ properties and features, which include:

  • Safe installation – a flame is not required
  • No roof joins – can be fitted in one sheet
  • Membrane has an attractive long-lasting appearance
  • Superior durability and flexibility
  • Very good value for money – very low life-cycle cost
  • Rubber is Eco-friendly

Of the new single-ply waterproofing membrane to come on the market there are a number of ‘stand-out’ products. Resitrix is one such product, it combines the  advantages of polymer modified bitumen with all the superior qualities of EPDM. The Resitix patented system is guaranteed for 50 years, forms a formidable bond and is suitable for all weather conditions.

Flat Roofing (traditional bitumen)

Even with the introduction of EPDM’s the most common and traditional flat roof systems today consist of three layers of Polyester roofing felt bonded together with 95/25 grade hot bitumen. Flat roofs can be finished with a mineral felt top layer, chippings or solar reflective paint. Depending on the project type we can advise the best system available.

Flat roofing systems (Lead)

As well as the hot and cold applied flat roof system mentioned above, lead is a traditional method used on many of our regions roofs. M J Faint Roofing can carry out replacement of damaged lead flat roofs or form new from supplied designs etc. All of our lead work is carried out to Lead Development Associations recommendations and as such gives clients complete peace of mind regarding specification, craftsmanship and finish.

Zinc roofing systems

Where weight and length of roof bays are critical considerations, the use of zinc becomes an option for some projects. Having installed light weight zinc sheeting to a number of projects, M J Faint Roofing will be happy to discuss the practicality of zinc systems where required.
